The first 21 Episodes from 1985’s `Season Two,’ have been still here for the time in this three-disc boxed spot from Warner Home Video. Jetsons-Season 2 V01

In addition, a special featurette, `Jetsons: Return to the Future,’ is also included that focuses on the evolution of the series. Among those interviewed is animation expert Effect Evanier.

`The Jetsons’ was originally conceived following the iconic success of Hanna-Barbera’s `The Flintstones,’ which featured a `modern’ Stone Age family. Hanna-Barbera decided to turn their Bedrock success on its ear, creating a similar family cartoon, but changed the setting to their vision of the Status Age - the 21st century!

The Jetsons originally lived Orbit City, a city where the houses were literally arrangement, device up in the air, like Area Age needles. The family included George, his wife, Jane, and their children Judy and Elroy, along with their beloved dog, Astro. A very sweet robot housekeeper, Rosie, equipped with an unexpected personality, soon joined the family.

So, the Jetsons lived the `average’ life in Hanna-Barbera’s future, which incorporated flying plot cars, instant transport tubes, various robots and a host of other bizarre gadgets to produce their lives a spin. But, the fabulous thing about The Jetsons was that, regardless of the technology, their problems were the same ones faced by families of all ages.

In the unique `Season One,’ George worked at Spacely Situation Sprockets, race by his pint-sized, ill-tempered boss, Cosmo S. Spacely. In `Season Two,’ unique characters were introduced, including a a second pet for the Jetsons named Orbitty, whose spring-like legs and suction cup feet enabled him to suspend himself on anything and in any direction. Orbitty is also able to change color to mediate his emotions.

The `Season Two’ episodes still here, along with the second-half of the 1985 episodes yet to be released, also aired in syndication, and generated the same level of success as the current episodes had. As a result, a second revival occurred, leading to 10 more episodes, referred to as `Season Three,’ finalizing the episode series in 1987!

In addition, `The Jetsons’ prompted two TV movies: The music-themed `Rockin’ with Judy Jetson,’ and then a accurate Hanna-Barbera crossover, `The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones.’

In 1989, `The Jetsons: the Movie’ hit the stout shroud with its only film, which depicted the finale of the entire series. An well-known heed, this movie is being released on DVD for the first time from Universal Studios. The Jetsons: The Movie It’s being dedicated to the memories of George O’Hanlon, the yell of George Jetston, and Mel Blanc, THE master assert animator, who was also the vow of Mr. Spacely. Ironically, this movie was the final insist project for both men.

The 21 episodes in this DVD boxed area from `Season Two’ are: Elroy Meets Orbitty; Rosie Arrive Home; Solar Snoops; Judy’s Birthday Surprise; Orderly George; Family Fallout; S.M.A.S.H.; The Mirrormorph; Mother’s Day for Rosie; Jetsons’ Millions; Fugitive Fleas; Rip-Off Rosie; Far-Out Father; Astro’s Gigantic Moment; The Cosmic Courtship of George and Jane; Fantasy Planet; S’no Relative; Instant Replay; Timid Halloween; Future Tense; and The Nasty Stuff.

We fans can only hope that after all of this time, the remainder of `Season Two,’ and the 10 episodes comprising the final `Season Three,’ will be released onto DVD very, very soon!

We’ve often had wondered what the 21st Century would be like all these years, but aloof don’t know what the future would be like. That was also said for cartoons as well. Help in 1962, The Jetsons were introduced to a whole novel generation of cartoon lovers. The display was brought in as a spin-off from the massive success of The Flintstones. While the cartoons episodes like Rosie The Robot and Elroy’s Mob were silly and rotund of life, it sadly was overlooked benefit in the 60’s. Fortunately, in 1985, The Jetsons came succor to be introduced to a whole recent generation of fans young and archaic alike. Not only that, the episodes were worthy more dynamic and fat of life more than ever. Now, those 80’s expansive shows are finally coming to DVD.

The Jetsons: Season 2 Volume 1 is a simple and strong reintroduction to the first family of the 21st Century. The DVD collection contains over 20 of the classic cartoons that were not honest enthralling for The Jetsons, but honest a gigantic deal of excitement for a whole current generation of fans. The episodes have all been remastered beautifully, and honest a broad reminder of what made The Jetsons so special. The collection of shows includes spacious episodes like Elroy Meets Orbity, which featured the debut of the pleasing and adorable suction-cupped alien from an asteroid who hatched from and egg Elroy brought home from a field lag, The Cosmic Courtship of George & Jane, where George & Jane re-tell the anecdote of who they first got together, after George accidentally forgets about their anniversary of how they fell in treasure and then finding out their marriage ceremony was not upright from the person who conducted their wedding ceremony. For that understanding the family goes to Las Venus to fetch married all over again. Also there is Family Fallout where Mr. Spacely convinces George and his family to go out a intergalactic game expose for substantial bucks and prizes, where slight do they know that Mr. Spacely and his family are though-provoking Jetson and his crew. The cartoon brings support a strong trek down memory lane for fans very well, and there also are a few extras here as well, including a tedious the scenes reflection on what made The Jetsons so relevant and intriguing.

All in all, The Jetsons: Season 2 Volume 1 is a pure delight for anyone who has missed the classic cartoon series for years, as well as those who have been more enthusiastic in cartoons like Spongebob Squarepants or The Fairly Oddparents from Nickelodeon. I loved watching these cartoons when I was a kid, and I am very delighted they are attend for a whole modern fans who feel like they’ve impartial went to orbit and young at heart. I unprejudiced hope that there are more of the spacious episodes available soon from the series.

Tsukikage Ran is classic. However, Ran is not a transvestite. The clothing she wears is unisex, for an example behold any of the “shrine maidens” in Sailor Moon, Disquieted Junction and many others. Yes, there were very few, if any, female samurai, yet this does not originate her a transvestite. Also, Jubei-chan was a comedy, Tsukikage Ran is more of a parody/satire/tribute to samurai films. Ran and Meow never demonstrate feelings towards each other, moral, but do they need to spout platitudes to be companions? This display is swiftly becoming a must spy throughout my circle of friends and is one of my choices for “Best of” 2002.

It’s big for fans of the fresh episodes that this is being released. However, I am only a fan of the unique episodes that I watched when I was in fifth grade. They released the Inidgo season in three boxed sets and after hesitating I bought them to finally rewatch the conventional series and realized I not only found it toothsome reliving my childhood but also found it more delicious than I remembered and filled with alot more tongue in cheek humor than the cutesiness so often associated with it. After years of listening to people my age bash it through later years I must have started thinking of it as a kiddy exhibit, but when you observe it and if you don’t mind animation the writing is very amusing, I had forgotten that was one of the reasons it was so lively apart from the feeling of adventure (that I quiet in fraction wish I could go on) .

When the prove was originally on I only watched up to the ruin of the Orange Island episodes before I felt too primitive to do it anymore. As I’ve said lately I bought the Indigo sets and the Orange Islands station and loved rewatching them so I took a chance and bought the Master Quest Boxed sets 1 and 2 (which are season 5 of the note), I didn’t reflect they were overall as big but the writing was level-headed very laughable and the continued adventure of these characters, that felt like conventional friends from my childhood, was racy enough to create those sets very palatable. Now I near to my jam.

I view in line with their modern releases of the first seasons that VIZ would release the Johto Boxed Sets of Season 3, *The Johto Journeys, and Season 4, *Road to the Johto League Championship, but I haven’t heard or seen anything about them yet. I know those series were already released on DVD/VHS but only in individual releases of three episodes and the fourth season in releases of only seven episodes. I would mighty rather seize Boxed Sets of these seasons but for some reason they stopped putting out the used episodes and only seem to be focused on the newer ones (which I saw once on tv and couldn’t stand the voices or the current writing, but that’s honest because I didn’t grow up on it), I inspect alot of the Pokemon All Star releases planned for episodes around ‘Favorite’ Pokemon and I’ve seen Novel Frontier and Diamond and Pearl box sets out for release but no more Johto sets. I am a miniature annoyed by this, and though this product is well-behaved for your children or you if you like it, I honest want to be able to explore the rest of the Johto episodes and find them easily and inexpensively in the fabricate of a DVD station.

Someone please speak me if you ever know anything about the Johto sets or even if you’re objective waiting for them like I am so I know I’m not the only one left hanging by VIZ.

Sorry this review isn’t all that mighty about the product listed but if you’re a fan of the newer episodes it’s a stout arrangement to obtain them, if your more a fan of the older episodes I don’t derive the unusual ones as well done and the newer Pokemon designs got too strange for me, but you may indulge in them.

The sets are made of three slim disc cases and are held in sturdy cardboard slipcover cases, of which they lumber out one initiate side. Here is a list of the 17 episodes that should be on this residence finishing out the tenth season based on the previous two:

501 An Elite Meet and Greet!__502 A Secret Sphere of Influence!

503 The Grass Menagerie!____504 One Immense Happiny Family!

505 Steamboat Willies!_______506 Top - Down Training!

507 A Stand-Up Sit-Down!___508 The Electrike Company!

509 Malice in Wonderland!____510 Mass Hip-Po-Sis!

511 Ill-Will Hunting_________512 A Maze-ing Urge!

513 Sandshrew’s Locker_____514 Dawn’s Early Night

515 Stamp! We’re It…!_______516 Glory Blaze

517 Smells Like Team Spirit!

Also The TV Movie Rise Of Darkrai, available on DVD, supposedly takes region between episode 506 and 507.

This is, quite simply, one of the best wartime documentaries shot during WWII. It chronicles the 25th mission of ‘The Memphis Belle” a B-17 and its crew that flew early in the air war over Europe when losses were staggering and survival of men and machines was doubtful over a 25-mission tour. Shot by William Wyler, the film is in burly color, noteworthy of it shot in combat conditions over Europe. The narration is grand.

This is not a very long film, but it is a must for anyone enthusiastic in the air war. I highly recommend another documentary to better understand the air war if you devour ‘Memphis Belle’. It is called “Pistol Packing Mama: The Missions of a B-17″, also available through Amazon.com. Taken together, these two videos will give the general viewer an satisfactory thought of the dangers of flying early in the war and of the resiliency and courage of the crews.

Do not quiz the camera work to be level-headed in the aerial combat sequences. Remember that the plane was shuddering with the recoil of its guns and also under instense fire. Also, the cameraman was probably having second thoughts about coming along on the mission at all! To me, the camera work only intensifies the drama of the battle.

Highly recommended. Not to be confused with the Hollywood version of 1990, with the same title. This is fact, that one is historical fiction. Both are worth your time.

This wartime documentary celebrates the successful return of the B-17 bomber Memphis Belle, named after pilot Robert Morgan’s girlfriend, from its twenty-fifth and final bombing mission over German soil, but it also makes certain the fact that this was only one of many such planes filled with courageous young men prepared to die for their country and for freedom. Director William Wyler basically takes the viewer through a typical day in the lives of the American men serving at an undisclosed air irascible in Britain. Ground crewmen prepare the B-17s for flight and load the bombs they will fall, pilots and crew receive their briefing on the mission ahead, death is delivered to the German homeland in the develop of fire from the sky, and the pilots bring their bombers home - if they can. The bravery of the ten men who served onboard each B-17 bomber is beyond question; while these wonderful airplanes earned the just to be called flying fortresses, each mission bordered on the suicidal. The bomber was a titanic and tedious yet deadly aircraft; the pilots had to enjoy formation and concentrate on dropping their bombs amidst anti-aircraft fire from the ground, the pursuit and attack of remarkable quicker German fighters, and constant bursts of flak all over the sky; with no fighter escort, the gunners stationed atop, leisurely, and astride each plane had their hands rotund trying to shoot down enemy planes. This film, built around accurate combat footage taken from 16mm and 35mm onboard cameras, presents a telling and impressively realistic gaze at the improbable dangers all bomber crewmen faced.

Some explain about the propaganda aspects of this film. It is lawful that the war in Europe raged on when the film was released by the War Department in April 1944, and it is also suitable that Wylie veteran footage from several missions as well as some film from a second air combat unit, but the heroism on present here rises far above propaganda. To return home from a bombing mission was a limited miracle in and of itself, as can clearly be seen in the extensive wound to both crew and aircraft for many of those that did beget it relieve to the execrable. What makes the Memphis Belle such a narrative is the fact that the crew took the plane out on twenty-five bombing runs and returned home each and every time. As the film shows us, this accomplishment earned all ten of the Memphis Belle’s crewmen renowned service medals, a visit from the King and Queen of England, and a paddle support to the States to befriend thunder future crewmen how to soar the B-17 bombers that continued to note themselves instrumental in the eventual Allied victory over the Third Reich.

I might construct impress of the fact that this film is actually in color - not a vibrant sort of color but color nonetheless - and runs a small short of forty-five minutes in length. Those with an interest in aerial combat or World War II in general should obtain great to interest them in this inspirational observe at the Memphis Belle and the fearless American men who flew her.

This is one of my current productions to brandish the HISTORY CHANNEL logo. I watched the first two episodes on television during the first “7 Deadly Sins” marathon when it first aired and was absolutely glued to the TV. I never got to witness more than the first two and had to wait for the DVD pre-order to advance to achieve the adventure.

The two discs hasten a total of five and a half hours. That’s a lot of DVD for under $20. (as of now) . The first disc has four sins and the second has what most absorb to be the Three Capital Sins. The chapters for each episode are surprisingly well broken up considering this is a ‘lower profile’ HISTORY CHANNEL production.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Seven Deadly Sins! Click Here

The noir presentation and production suits the material perfectly. Instead of the typical documentary style that can hamper a message it is trying to dispute, this goes all out. I explore lot of documentaries that do puny to enhance the tale and it’s not the case here. Ingenious is the consume of ‘digital paper cut-out’ transition scenes and digitized dramatization scenes. Legal, some of the scenes are badly acted, but it adds to lighten the atmosphere of the express.

And being a stout fan of Dante’s literary masterpiece DIVINA COMMEDIA, using Dante’s work to illustrate the penalties of sin is an certain signature for each episode. Now I kind of wish Flight 33 Productions would explain the Divine Comedy on film. Not honest Hell, but Purgatory and Heaven as well.

Though being a “Christian focus”, the DVD does well to mediate the views of Judaism, Islam and the scientific and/or secular communities to further validate the effort of each sin.

Even if you are theologically well-versed and studied, this is peaceful a nice resource to have and is absorbing to boot.

I’m a bit of a historian myself, however, in the East Asian Civilizations but I have always been fascinated by the 7 Deadly Sins where they advance from and where they steal us. However, this format of history telling is a bit too accessible for me. It seems like they feel their audience is bunch of ADD teenagers that’ll switch the channel unless they are jumpy with another FUN FACT of history. I personally would have preferred it straight up without all the bells and whistles. I liked all the interviews from everyone from Jewish Temples to Mosques and Churches. From Catholic Priests to Faith-Healers and Imams. However, in the ruin, the focus of the program seems to be more what people thing of the sins now than where they came from. The narrator sounds like that guy Don Fontaine who ancient to do all those Action movie Trailers making the whole production feel rushed trying (as mentioned above) trying to hold the attention of a very ADD audience.

However, as another reviewer mentioned, [...] for nearly 7 TV hours of history is a bit of a bargain so 3 stars from me.

There’s no doubt that Tropic Command is one of the funniest movies of the year- if not THE funniest movie of the year. I remember seeing in the theater and laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe. I was mad when I found out that there was an unrated DC coming out… 2 discs, and 15 more minutes more footage.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Tropic Thunder! Click Here

However, as mighty as I gotta say the movie rocks, I have to say: Seize THE THEATRICAL Carve INSTEAD. The unrated version slows the movie down a bit, and most of the added stuff doesn’t seem to fit in. They changed some droll lines, and even took some out as well. In fact some of the added stuff makes the movie feel a lot longer than it really is, and after awhile the movie seems repetitive, which is one of the few things that killed the movie for me.

So if you’re planning on buying the DVD, secure the single disc rated version instead… this movie is definitely one of the funniest I’ve seen, and I definitely survey forward to owning it, but really, unprejudiced gather the theatrical. It’s Worthy better.

I never understood why Downey, Jr. received job after job after being released from prison. I knew he was a top-notch actor, but his portrayal of Iron Man and his performance in this movie was impartial phenomenal (I never saw the Charlie Chaplin movie) . I know this movie offended some, but my husband and I are Gloomy and we missed some of the dialogue in this movie from laughing so hard. We were picking out family members who really talk like that! This movie is hilarious. It’s depressed that Oscars aren’t considered for these types of movies/performances. All of the characters in this movie contributed to it’s fine experience, however, RDJ stole EVERY SCENE he was apart of. Tall Job, RDJ!!! I’m now one of your biggest fans!!!

While this movie will never score any acclaim or awards, it was a light romantic comedy that hit a home race with me. I liked Jeff Bridges and Barbara Streisand together. They were droll and had top-notch rapport together on cloak.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Mirror Has Two Faces! Click Here

Streisand’s third directorial wretchedness was greeted with surprisingly vicious reaction from both fans and critics, nearly all of whom immediately labeled it as an over-the-top vanity part. It also had great wretchedness at the box office. After opening with strong numbers, the $45 million budgeted film took a nose dive and did not recover. It ended up taking in $46 million domestically ($65 million worldwide), which was a estimable consume, but far from the blockbuster set of films like A STAR IS BORN or THE PRINCE OF TIDES. When considering all of the above information, it’s a bit surprising to study that the film is nothing more than an involving and heart-felt romantic comedy. In hindsight, it’s hard to understand why a such a harmless and light-weight film became such a lighting rod for scathing reviews and harsh comments.

While the storyline is predictable, the movie is actually very well-done with a brisk walk, compelling characters, and a witty screenplay. The finale may advance down a bit heavy-handed on the “message” demolish, but the build-up is effective enough to merit this indulgence. Though MIRROR doesn’t match her previous two directorial efforts, Streisand does once again pull off the various actress/producer/director roles with grand efficiently, and this results in an effective star vehicle for the then-54-year-old film fable. Jeff Bridges received a lot of flack for his completely unselfconscious portrayal, but I like how completely he throws himself into the laughable role. Lauren Bacall is brilliantly biting and colorful in her turn as Streisand’s mother, a role that earned her first (and so far only) Oscar nomination. Mimi Rogers is also fun as Streisand’s (…) younger sister, as is Brenda Vaccaro as her self-deprecating best friend - although Pierce Brosnan is wasted as a gigolo-like suitor. All in all, an enjoyably fluffy film, undeserving of the criticism it routinely receives.

Marie Antoinette was born November 2, 1755 in Vienna, Austria. She was the youngest and most elegant daughter of Francis Stephen I and Maria Theresa Emperor and Empress of the Holy Roman Empire. Marie Antoinette was brought up believing her destiny was to become queen of France, the hope of forging an alliance with the two countries. She married the crown prince of France in 1770. Four years later she became queen when her husband was crowned King Louis XVI

One of the most bright facets of this two-hour special on Marie Antoinette was that she never said the distinguished line “let them eat cake.” In fact, the unpleasant Marie was remarkably naive about the needs of the French peasantry and even about her adopted country. Living in a secluded life in the palace of Versailles, she had never seen the sea and spent most of her short life confined within the walls of the palace and gardens.

This provocative documentary, which aired on PBS last night - in preparation for Sofia Coppola’s big-screen dramatization, starring Kirsten Dunst - expels many of the myths associated with this deeply misunderstood Queen. She was indeed only a child - objective fifteen - when her mother Maria Theresa married her off to the teenage Prince Louis.

Naive about the role of a Queen, Marie a woman of vast charm and beauty, spent mighty of her time gambling and partying, spending money from the public coffers, oblivious to who paid for it all. The fact that Louis was Unable to effect a heir was a source of huge consternation in the court, and as the years went by with mild no child, Marie found an outlet by building a private world on the Versailles grounds, Le Petit Trianon, a private retreat where she could salvage help to nature.

Children did eventually advance, but it didn’t relieve the region of the monarchy, especially in the eyes of the public, who viewed Marie and her moneyed dalliances as responsible for mighty of the crises in the country. Louis was an incompetent and bumbling King, who found it hard to execute decisions. With the political and social ideology of France rapid changing, Louis and Marie were urged to limit their power, and succor contribute to forming a constitutional monarchy but they remained stubbornly tied to the strictures of the past.

Marie offended many of the nobles, adding their denunciation to the nasty stories spread by royal hopefuls. It was the nobility that balked at the financial reforms the government ministers tried to execute, not the King and Queen, who were in favor of change. In truth, Antoinette and Louis’ fate were sealed by the irrevocable march of history, innocent porn’s caught up in the winds of change.

Both Louis and Marie ended up guillotined, but in the meantime Marie grew as a woman, a mother and a monarch, the irony being that she was mighty more of a Queen when she was stripped of her royal position and awaiting trial in Paris.

Actress Blair Brown narrates this titillating film, while historians Antonia Fraser, Simon Schama, Evelyne Lever, Antoine de Baecque and Fanny Cosandey and novelist Chantal Thomas provide distinguished of the piquant account about the tragic life of this resplendent and remarkable misconstrued woman. Mike Leonard September 06.

This documentary on Marie Antoinette was beneficial. When I turned it on, I was glued to the conceal. I procure the fact that this documentary does not exhibit many actors completely acting out a scene, but along with the narrators and current paintings of the past, you can represent the whole legend in your mind. In other words, the paintings and the pictures of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI told everything of what had happened. It is honest like reading a funny book without text. You can fair weave the describe together yourself. I did not regret ordering this two hour film on Marie Antoinette, and I suggest that whoever is alive to about France’s history, should not miss the life account of Marie Antoinette

In fact, Culp plays it so seriously that it comes off almost as a parody of a government agent.

With an exceptionally grand transfer, “The Greatest American Hero” looks almost as if it was invulnerable to the ravages of time. The transfers spy very nice with solid blacks and color reproduction. Considering the present is twenty five years broken-down, there are few of the flaws that one might request. The image is occasionally soft but and has some minor analog imperfections (such as dust, dirt particularly during the effects shots) on the whole, Anchor Bay has done a meticulous job in transferring this series to DVD. The sound while dinky by the technology of the time (it was broadcast in mono) has grand presence with the dialogue very certain. Some minor background suppose crops up from time to time. Although the box says this is in stereo it sounds like mono to me.

We accumulate a pilot for a flow off entitled “The Greatest American Heroine”. While only one episode was shot, what we have is quite pleasant and promising. Sadly, no network picked up the spin-off so, until recently, it has sat on the shelf. In the scoot off Hinkley hands off the suit to a young woman and she takes up where he left off. We also pick up interviews with stars William Katt, Robert Culp, Connie Selleca and writer/producer/creator Stephen J. Cannell. Culp provides some bright tidbits in his interview. For example, the reason Bill Maxwell comes across so intense and humorless is because Culp decided to play the role that plot. He figured that there with others playing for laughs, presenting his character as serious would provide an anchor to reality and prevent the expose from becoming too tongue-in-cheek. With over an hour of interviews, this piece of the site is extremely top-notch. No commentary tracks from anyone but, really, the interviews do get up for that. Hopefully in future sets we can have commentary tracks on key episodes by the actors and Cannell.

Schoolteacher Ralph Hinkley (William Katt) is taking his class on a field gallop to the desert when their bus breaks down. Hiking encourage to gain relieve, he finds FBI agent Bill Maxwell (Robert Culp) . His car also mysteriously dies objective as a flying saucer appears. Not to trouble, they near in peace. In fact, they want to serve produce peace on earth by giving Ralph a suit that will give him trim powers. Teaming up with Bill, he sets out to moral the wrongs of the world. Rounding out the trio is Pam Davidson (Connie Sellecca), Ralph’s girlfriend. Fair one limited quandary. Ralph lost the instruction book so has no concept how to control his powers.

Okay, I admit it. It sounds cheesy and monotonous. But, if you’ll consume the premise, it works and it works well. The explain is spirited and sticks to it’s premise well. You do also have to gather beyond the special effects. Many of them, especially Ralph flying, stare poor by today’s standards. But if you’ll remember it was a TV explain from 1981, you’ll do impartial resplendent.

Collected here, we have the 8 episodes that were the first season, including the two-hour series premier. During the episodes, not only does Ralph struggle with his current powers, but also with how to deal with them in his life. And he truly struggles, most noticeably in “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys.”

And there is also lots of humor. Vast one-liners and slapstick as Ralph tries to figure things out. I especially be pleased his constantly struggle changing out of his street clothes into his suit. I can identify with that. But the humor also comes from the characters. Ralph is idealistic and Bill is cynical. Bill also has puny consume for Pam, even when she provides a important fraction of information. The three leads have astronomical chemistry and pull things off admirably. This is best shown in “The Best Desk Scenario,” easily my approved in the area.

As mentioned, this season only consisted of 8 episodes. They’re preserved here on 3 discs. The represent is absorbing. Obviously, they set lots of admire into restoring it. The sound is stereo. Nothing treasure, but since the demonstrate is over 20 years frail, it doesn’t have to be. Also included in this residence is the only aired in syndication pilot for a proposed spin-off series, “The Greatest American Heroine.” I’m not a fan since it finds Ralph having to hand off the suit to someone else. I’m a bit surprised it didn’t fetch included in a season 3 dwelling, since it serves as a coda to the series. Collected, it’s nice to have somewhere for completion. Rounding out this dwelling is 75 minutes of modern interviews with creator Stephen J. Cannell, the three stars, and Michael Pare, who played the leader of Ralph’s students. The interviews are gripping and well worth watching.

Did I mention you glean the theme song? You can’t miss it since it plays on all the menus and, naturally, before each episode. Honestly, I’m impartial as cheerful to obtain it as I am the episodes themselves.

I was slightly disappointed when I found out how few episodes there were in this season. But for the sign, you really can’t complain. I haven’t been able to finish watching this area and am sorry to have finished it already. Bring on season 2!

Richard Burton stars in this agreeable war drama, directed by Robert Wise. James Mason reprises his role as Rommel, from “The Desert Fox.”

I have to admit, I watched this in the hopes that I might salvage some additional insight into the desert fighting in Iraq.

And I did. Even though this is a 50-year old-fashioned movie, the desert scenes…the foul reality of a “war in a desert”…gives this film another subtext for the viewer, and makes it all the more spicy.

Yes, there are the standard war-movie subplots, but for the most section, there’s a lot of uncommonly excellent elements to this movie. The Aussie aspect, the procedural details to the raids and attacks. It’s constantly spicy…

Consider this a profitable bet for war film fans, and an equally genuine bet for those who simply like a helpful record well told.

Former editor, turned up-and-coming director, Robert Wise, essentially turns an otherwise fairly standard world war 2 record into a classic war film. Tight editing, decent special effects, a obliging screenplay plus compelling action scenes led by Burton, alongside an able British and Aussie sounding cast, take “The Desert Rats” to cinematic respectability.

“The Desert Rats” delivers in the action department with a frontal Panzer attack in the opening minutes of the film and tries to maintain up the toddle for 88 minutes.

WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT

Richard Burton [Lt. Colonel MacRoberts] is a hard-nose officer in the British Eighth Army. He’s entrenched at Tobruk and battling Rommel’s Africa Corp. Posthaste placed in charge of a newly arrived, green Australian unit, MacRoberts keeps tight discipline and asks the impossible of his men. Nevertheless, the results for McRoberts are surprisingly wonderful as he and his men play their roles in continuing the defensive efforts at Tobruk for more than 8 months against Rommel. In superior tale telling fabricate, we seek the action more than hear about it, and it is all rather believably depicted.

Probably for the audiences succor, MacRoberts is temporarily captured by the Germans in a night raid, where, while having a hurt field dressed, he meets and defiantly dares Rommel [James Mason], “if you can crush Tobruk - then crush it!”

Afterwards, amidst a nice action scene where the German truck carrying the allied prisoners is strafed by Spitfires, MacRoberts escapes and returns too easily to the allied side, across enemy lines.

The film is narrated throughout by what I hold is the stammer of Michael Rennie, who played “Klaatu” in the “Day the Earth Stood Serene” and was a “lisp” in the preceding “The Desert Fox”, 1951.

BOTTOM LINE: “THE DESERT RATS” - SIMPLY A TIGHT WELL DONE WAR DRAMA

This simple film holds up well [now 54 years] on the foundation of an ample cloak play. Burton, Mason and Wise really team-up well to preserve this film really tight and mostly filled with relevant and intriguing action for 88 minutes.
